Barcelona vs Girona LIVE Football Score 24/07/2021

Barcelona are back in action with another pre-season friendly this weekend as they lock horns with Girona at the Estadi Johan Cruyff on Saturday. Barcelona have assembled an impressive squad this year and will be intent on making their mark in this match. Girona suffered a devastating defeat against Rayo Vallecano in the Segunda Division promotion playoffs earlier this year and will have to spend another season in the second division. The away side can pack a punch on its day and will want to prove its mettle in this game.

Barcelona, on the other hand, have reinforced their squad in recent months and will want to settle on a robust team this month. The Catalan giants eased past Gimnastic Tarragona earlier this week and will want a similar result on Saturday. Koeman’s team won last season’s Copa del Rey, but they were eliminated in the last-16 stage of the Champions League and finished third in La Liga, seven points behind the champions Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona started their preparations for next term with a 4-0 victory over Gimnastic on Wednesday, with 12 players making their debuts for the Catalan giants.

Alejandro Balde, Yusuf Demir, Jordi Escobar, Peque Polo, Arnau Comas, Ramos Mingo, Gavi, Matheus Pereira, Igor Gomes, Rey Manaj, Moussa N’diaye and Nils Mortimer all appeared for the first team against Gimnastic, and Manaj scored a hat-trick in a brilliant performance.

Barcelona are due to face Girona, Stuttgart and Red Bull Salzburg in their next three friendlies before opening their 2021-22 La Liga season against Real Sociedad at Camp Nou, and it will be fascinating to see which XI lines up on the first weekend of the new campaign.

Girona, meanwhile, have been present in the Segunda Division – the second tier of Spanish football – since being relegated from La Liga at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

The White and Reds have finished fifth in the last two seasons and lost 3-2 to Rayo Vallecano in last year’s promotion playoff final, meaning that they will again be present in the Segunda Division in 2021-22.

Barcelona take on Girona in their second pre-season friendly, in preparation for the 2021/22 season. Ronald Koeman will be able to welcome Clément Lenglet, Frenkie de Jong, Antoine Griezmann and new arrival Memphis Depay into the fold for tomorrow’s fixture, where they will join the squad who beat Nàstic by four goals to nil on Wednesday. Taking on Girona will certainly provide more of a test for this Barcelona side, who are still largely made up of players from Barça B, on top of the fact that we must take into account that Barcelona vs Girona will likely be an 11 vs 11 game, rather than the 11 vs 10 we saw against Nàstic.
