Liverpool vs League LIVE Football Score 6 August 2022

Liverpool will be hoping for a repeat of the start of their impressive 2021/22 season when they kick off the new campaign at Fulham on August 6. The Champions League finalists won 3-0 at Norwich on the first day of a season in which they would finish second, breezing past a team hoping to prove themselves in the Premier League and defy a reputation of being a ‘yo-yo’ club. Fulham have those same ambitions, returning to the top flight after suffering relegation and responding by winning promotion, making a positive result against Liverpool a potentially significant statement of intent. Fulham manager Marco Silva will be without winger Harry Wilson, who spent the first seven years of his career at Liverpool before joining Fulham on loan in 2021 and on a permanent basis in July, as well as Nathaniel Chalobah.

Liverpool will once again kick off another Premier League season against a newly-promoted side, as Fulham play host to the Reds at Craven Cottage on Saturday.Jurgen Klopp’s men were forced to accept second best again last season, while the Cottagers are aiming to avoid a swift demotion back down to the second tier.

“Let’s wait for our medical staff to give more information,” Silva said of the pair after Fulham’s 1-1 home preseason friendly draw with Villarreal. “Let’s hope it will not be so serious but it doesn’t look good really.” Defender Ibrahima Konate limped off injured as Liverpool lost 3-0 at home to Strasbourg in their final friendly, although Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said the issue “doesn’t look too concerning”. Naby Keita was ill and fellow midfielder Curtis Jones missed out and faces tests from the club’s medical department, while full-backs Kostas Tsimikas and Calvin Ramsay are doubts and midfielders Diogo Jota and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (both suffering hamstring injuries) are out, as is goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Liverpool travel to take on Fulham in just four days. It’ll start their Premier League season, of course, and comes within a week of the Community Shield win over Manchester City. Momentum is there for Liverpool to gather, then. The Reds will treat this season as ‘two sprints’ either side of the World Cup, says Pep Lijnders, so they’ll want to get off to a quick start. And for that reason, we don’t think Jurgen Klopp will make too many changes from the team that beat Fulham. We do see three that we’re predicting, though, in our early guess at the lineup. Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz will be in there, especially as Diogo Jota remains out. That just leaves the middle and we’re predicting our third change there.

Darwin Nunez brought so much when he came on against City that we think Klopp will ride that momentum. Throw him in from the start, see what he can do, and maybe he can use the confidence to integrate rapidly into this Liverpool side. Of course, no one should be surprised if Roberto Firmino retains his place but Nunez’s 30-minute display at the King Power may just earn him a place. After a one-season hiatus, Fulham are back in the Premier League. Their no.1 goal for the 2022-23 season is to stay up, but it’s not going to be easy as the English top-flight looks more competitive than ever. Nevertheless, the spirits are high in Fulham’s locker room, even though their first opponent is one of the main title favorites – Liverpool. Knowing that the Reds are fresh off winning.

the 2022 FA Community Shield, in which they defeated the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City 3-1, it’s no surprise that they’re seen as the favorites in Saturday’s EPL game. Oddsmakers expect Liverpool to have a field day against Fulham, even though their recent experiences with this team aren’t that good. The last time Fulham were in the Premier League, they managed to stay unbeaten against Liverpool, winning one and tying the other game. After getting relegated to the Championship two seasons ago, Fulham dominated the second tier of English soccer, finishing the 2021-22 season at the very top of the table. By winning the Championship, they booked a place in the 2022-23 Premier League season, which is where they plan to stay for years.

The good news for them is that pretty much all of their key men who dominated the Championship are still on the roster. This includes Aleksandar Mitrovic, the new record-holder for most goals scored in the English second flight. In addition to their old players, Fulham’s squad now has a few fresh faces. Fabio Carvalho came from Liverpool, Andreas Pereira arrived from Manchester United, Joao Palhina from Sporting CP, Manor Solomon from Shakhtar Donetsk, and so on. These guys definitely look capable of keeping Fulham up, but they probably don’t have enough quality to do much against mighty Liverpool.

Fabinho and Thiago feel like certainties for this one, too. We’re predicting two starts there, then, and the only question is whether Jordan Henderson keeps his place. We think he will as Klopp will likely want the Liverpool captain starting the opener. There is a chance, however, that the boss puts a more attacking midfielder like Harvey Elliott into the fray here – maybe even Fabio Carvalho, given how well he knows the opponents.

Proving that they no longer hold the label of a yo-yo team will be the ultimate goal for Fulham and Marco Silva this summer, with the Cottagers determined to make their latest Premier League journey last longer than 12 months.

With 90 points and 106 goals – 43 of which came from Aleksandar Mitrovic – to boast from the 2021-22 Championship season, Fulham blew the competition out of the water to return to the big time, although winning just two of their final seven matches took some gloss off of their trophy.
