Real Madrid vs Cadiz CF LIVE Laliga Football Score 15/05/2022

Real Madrid will host Cadiz at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in a matchday 18 La Liga fixture on Sunday. The home side comfortably dispatched city rivals Atletico Madrid with a 2-0 home win last weekend. Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio found the back of the net to help their side defeat Diego Simeone’s men. That victory helped Los Blancos move eight points clear at the summit of the standings.

Cadiz secured progress in the Copa del Rey with a narrow 1-0 away victory over Albacete on Thursday. Florin Andone scored the match-winner in the 20th minute. They will turn their attention to league action on Sunday, where they currently sit in 18th spot on 13 points, two points away from safety.

Real Madrid have been in rampant form and are unlikely to reduce the tempo in their quest to reclaim the league title. Cadiz, for their part, have not impressed and are looking likely candidates to be relegated at the end of the season. The home side are heavy favorites to secure maximum points and we are backing them to secure a comfortable victory in addition to a clean sheet.

This is an important match for Real Madrid, who will have to find a way through and score the three points without key players like Modric, Asensio and Rodrygo. Ancelotti confirmed that Eden Hazard will start and it’s likely that he will be deployed on Real’s right wing now that there’s an obvious opening for him there.

Then, Ancelotti will have to find a replacement for Modric, with Camavinga and Valverde as obvious candidates for that spot. Dani Ceballos is also back with the team but he’s will have to improve his form and conditioning before he can play.

Real Madrid are sitting comfortably at the top of the La Liga standings, having collected 42 points from their 17 matches so far, five points clear of Sevilla in second place. Currently on a run of ten victories in all competitions, Carlo Ancelotti’s men beat reigning Spanish champions and arch-rivals Atletico Madrid 2-0 last time out. They will be looking to carry forward that momentum and end 2021 with wins in their remaining two matches.

Meanwhile, Cadiz find themselves at the opposite end of the table, as they occupy 18th position with just 13 points from 17 outings. Just two points shy of Elche in 16th place, an unlikely win at the Bernabeu could lift Alvaro Cervara’s side out of the drop zone, at least temporarily. Los Piratas are unbeaten in their last two games in all competitions, most recently beating Albacete 1-0 in the Copa del Rey.

Cadiz had managed to pick up a shock 1-0 win over Real Madrid in the corresponding fixture last season, with Anthony Lozano scoring the only goal of the game. However, a repeat of that result looks beyond them in the ongoing campaign. Ahead of this encounter coming our way from the Santiago Bernabeu, The Hard Tackle takes a closer look at both teams.

Real Madrid had some positive Covid test cases over the past week, which sees some of their players get ruled out of the contest. Luka Modric has since tested negative but will not be involved while the likes of Rodrygo, Gareth Bale, Marcelo, Marco Asensio and Andriy Lunin also miss out. On top of that, Dani Carvajal and Mariano Diaz have been ruled out with injuries.

Dani Ceballos has returned from his injury and is named in the squad for the first time this season. Academy prospect Peter has also been included by manager Carlo Ancelotti along with young goalkeepers Luis Lopez and Toni Fuidas, while Miguel Gutierrez also makes the cut.

There are likely to be one or two changes to the side that started against Atletico Madrid. Thibaut Courtois is an undisputed starter in goal for Los Blancos, while Eder Militao and David Alaba are permanent fixtures at the heart of the defence. Ferland Mendy should hold on to his place at left-back, but Lucas Vazquez is in line to replace the injured Carvajal at right-back.

Meanwhile, Eduardo Camavinga should get a rare start in the middle of the park against Cadiz in place of the absent Modric. Toni Kroos and Casemiro are expected to be retained in the starting XI, even though Federico Valverde is pushing for minutes.

Since being held by Osasuna in La Liga at the end of October, Real Madrid have been victorious in 10 straight matches in all competitions, including their last seven in the league, which has seen them open up a healthy advantage at the summit ahead of the winter break in Spain’s top flight.

Indeed, a record of 10 wins, four draws and one defeat from 17 matches has allowed Carlo Ancelotti’s side to collect 42 points, which has left them eight points clear of second-placed Sevilla, while they have a 13-point advantage over the reigning champions Atletico Madrid.

Los Blancos recorded a huge 2-0 victory over Atletico in the league last weekend, while they have also beaten Real Sociedad and Sevilla in recent weeks, and the capital giants will fancy their chances of overcoming Cadiz and Athletic Bilbao in their final two games before the winter break.

Real Madrid’s excellent run of form also allowed them to claim first spot in Group D in the Champions League, and they have been paired with French giants Paris Saint-Germain in the last-16 stage of the competition.

The home team’s preparations for this match have been interrupted by a COVID-19 outbreak in the camp, but it has seemingly been contained, and Los Blancos will take to the field this weekend looking for their 14th La Liga victory of what has been an impressive season to date.

Cadiz were excellent on their return to the top flight last season, claiming 12th spot in the table, but it was always going to be a huge challenge for the club to repeat that success this term.

The Yellow Submarine have found it difficult to show consistency in the league this season, winning two, drawing seven and losing eight of their 17 matches to collect 13 points, which has left them in 18th spot in the table, two points behind 17th-placed Alaves, who have a game in hand.

Only Levante (zero) have won fewer matches in La Liga this season, but Cadiz will enter this match off the back of a 1-0 victory over Albacete in the Copa del Rey on Thursday night.

Alvaro Cervera’s side also drew 1-1 against Granada in the league last weekend, but this game will be their final contest of the year, with their next fixture scheduled for January 3 against Sevilla.

Cadiz might be the underdogs heading into Sunday’s contest, but they recorded a famous 1-0 victory at Bernabeu in the corresponding match last term courtesy of a goal from Anthony Lozano.
